Hic sunt dracones...

I like dragons and I want to test the electrochemical etching on this blade (this is only a training project).

I started to collect some nice dragons' drawings and I like this one...

Improving the bevel...

After doing the ricasso line and started the bevel, it's time to get a even bevel surface along the blade.

I like the pattern left on this surface...

... still need to clean some rust before drill the holes to attach the handle.

Creating a ricasso line and bevel the blade

After getting the blade's profile I started to file the piece to create a ricasso line and the bevel... with a mill file! And what a journey!

Getting a knife's shape...

After filing most of the diamond pattern I started to file the knife's profile using a mill file.

Some hard work for the next days... filing and more filing!

... but getting there!

Something close to a knife's blade...

At the end of the 3rd day of (hard) work!

The knife's sketch...

For the blade's template I used another bushcraft blade and draw it on the rusty flat side of the steel piece...

... and started to remove the diamond pattern using a file.

And more filing work...

The project...

The first idea came with a glimpse of a rusty carbon steel piece and the sudden image of a bushcraft knife blade on it!

First question... would I be able to do it with only a two days handicraft knife workshop background? It would be very difficult to get a hand on a forge and use it to shape the blade so I had to go for the stock removal method... the hard way!

The pattern rusty side...

... the other side, also rusty!
